How to make a claim notification?
Once you login to your GKGOnline account, please select “claims” Please note that your starting this process is only a notification and you are still required to complete a claims form, which you can complete and print from the GK General Insurance website which is www.gk-insurance.com.
How to complete your renewal?
Once you login to your GKGOnline account, select policies on the main tab and then select the policy you wish to renew. Your policy status will indicate “Renew”. Note that you will only be able to renew a policy within 10 days before the policy renewal date. Most of the information previously entered will be pre-populated. Therefore, we encourage you to review the information to ensure that what is shown is accurate. Accurate information ensures that you are able to complete the process faster. After reviewing the policy information and selecting policy coverage you will be able to make your payment and your policy will be renewed. If the policy renewal date has already past, you will need to start a new quotation. As a result, we encourage you to start your renewal quotation process prior to the expiry of the policy.
How to access policy documents?
Once you login to your GKGOnline account, select “Policies” from the main screen and then select the policy that would like to view. Click on “documents” and you will be able to see all the documents related to this policy.
How to print policy documents?
To print a document, please click on “documents” and it will appear in a separate window, which will allow you to print the document based on your browser print options.
How to access and print payment receipts?
Once you log in to your GKGOnline account, select “Payments” located on the main screen. Here you will see all the payments that have been made to your account with the latest payment being at the top. To print the payment receipt please select “view” which is located directly under policy payments. This screen will provide you with a breakdown of your payment and give you the option to print the receipt.
What is a Proof of Address and how to upload it to your policy?
What is a proof of address? A proof of address is requirement by law and industry standards is that record proof of your current permanent address. This can be verified using the following documents:
- Voter's Id (front and back screen shot)
- Bank statement
- Utility Bill - Flow/JPS/NWC/Digicel
- Post Office stamped envelope with your name and address posted to you

How to reset my password or security questions?
To reset your password, please click on “Forgot your Password” link on the login page. You will be required to enter your username and date of birth. A link will be sent to your email address. Please ensure you check all mailboxes including Junk if you do not see the email in your primary email mailbox. Please click on the link provided in the email that will allow you to create a new password.
What is an Insurance Policy?
An insurance policy is a contract between you and an insurance company, in which we promise to take over the financial costs of certain risks. The policy describes the item(s) covered, the risks you are covered against and specifies your rights and responsibilities, along with the terms and limits of the cover. We cannot stop those risks from occurring, but we can help to pay for them when they do. A motor insurance policy provides cover for private cars or commercial vehicles including goods carrying or passenger-carrying vehicles for hire/reward.
Why Motor Insurance?
Under the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) act of 1941, a minimum level of insurance is compulsory if you intend to operate a vehicle on the roads. Being caught driving a vehicle that is not insured is an offence. In addition, it is your best interest to ensure that whether through someone else's fault or yours an accident or loss does not cause you financial hardship. Insuring your vehicle is a means of protecting yourself.
Why do I get a Certificate Of Insurance?
Under the law, the Certificate of insurance is required as proof of the existence of insurance. It must be returned if the policy is suspended or cancelled. If it is lost, you should advise us immediately.
What is the Excess?
The excess is the portion of a claim (In Motor, the cost of repairing or replacing your vehicle) specified as a percentage of the value of the vehicle that you are responsible for paying, whether or not you are at fault. The Company will pay amounts over and above this figure up to the sum insured.
How does the no claim discount work?
This is a special discount you earn for not making a claim under your policy. As long as you do not make a claim it increases annually until it reaches a maximum percentage. It is important to note that even if you are not at fault in an accident, once you have made a claim and received a payment from your insurance policy, your discount may be reduced. It may be reinstated if we recover the amount paid to you from the third party that was at fault in the accident. Accident free driving is the best way to keep your premiums at a reasonable level.
Your No Claim Discount is not transferable to another person. However, you can transfer it from one of your vehicles to another one that you own.
My windscreen was recently broken. If I make a claim will it affect my no claim discount?
Your motor policy covers breakage of your windscreen or window up to a specified amount. There must be no other damage or injury apart from scratches caused by the shattering of the glass. Once this is the case the excess is not applicable and it will not affect your no claim discount.
How can I minimize the cost of my insurance?
- You can agree to bear a larger percentage of each claim should any occur that is increase your excess.
- You could restrict the driving of your vehicle to no more than three named persons.
- Maintain a good driving record.

I wish to modify my car to boost its performance will it affect my premiums?
If you decide to modify your car to make it more powerful or faster we need to know. Unfortunately, such modifications increases the risks associated with your car and consequently the premiums. If we are not aware it is not covered under your policy.
Who can drive my vehicle?
- All the persons who are likely to drive a motor vehicle insured with GKGOnline must be between the ages 18 – 70 years and have held a driver’s license for longer than 6 months.
- You can be a co-owner of the vehicle and not be a driver.
- If any of your drivers is under the age of 21 years and or has had an accident within the last 3 years this will affect the premium we are able to offer you.
- Please ensure that anyone driving the vehicle at any time satisfies all these requirements, failure to do so could impact our ability to settle your claim.
Why do I have to give the names of the persons who will drive my car when I want open cover?
In our efforts to evaluate your risk exposure it is important for us to know the ages, driving experience, claims experience and occupations of your drivers. The data we have collected over the years allows us to analyze the risk based on this information.
I have purchased Comprehensive Cover however the top of my certificate mentions Third Party Cover. Why?
The law, which makes motor insurance compulsory, is called the Motor Vehicle Third Party Risks Law. The reference to third party is simply acknowledging that you have satisfied the legal requirements.
Does my policy provide a grace period?
No. The Law specifically prohibits us from granting you a grace period. Your cover expires at midnight on the date stated on your Certificate of Insurance. Therefore, if the day after the expiration of your cover is a weekend or Public holiday you must ensure your cover is renewed early.
If I decide to sell my car can I "give" the purchaser the insurance I bought for it?
The insurance contract is a personal one. This means that our decision to insure you, and the premiums you were charged was based solely on our assessment of you. You therefore cannot transfer this cover to another person, not even your child. The position is the same if you are giving the car as a gift.
Is it a problem if I insure my vehicle for private purposes and during the period of cover I begin to use my vehicle in my business?
Yes. Our decision to insure you and, the premiums you are charged is based on how you intend to use the vehicle. If you need to change the use you must advise us.
If you make a claim for an accident that occurred while the vehicle was being used for business we can refuse to settle the claim.
The definition of business use is very wide and so it is in your better to seek clarification.
I have fitted a new music system to my car is it covered?
Accessories, which were not fitted by the original manufacturer, are not automatically covered. It is therefore your responsibility to obtain proof of the value of these items and ensure that they are specifically insured.
Who is a co-owner?
Insurance is a legal contract between those with insurable interest in the asset and the insurer. All the owners of a motor vehicle (i.e. everyone whose name is on the registration/ fitness) have equal insurable interest in that vehicle; information about all owners will be required in order for us to provide a quotation.
Except in the case of a new purchase the information provided will be validated against the tax office’s database and so if you do not list all the owners we will not be able to complete the process.
Note also that co-owners will be asked to approve the quotation before you will be able to complete purchase of the policy via GKGOnline.
Why should I report an accident if I don’t intend to claim?
Failure to report an accident is a breach of the terms of the insurance agreement. If you are involved in a minor accident or one where you believe you are not at fault, you may feel that you should not report it as it could cause your premium to be increased. However, if the other party chooses to claim on their insurance company who then seeks repayment from us, your rights to protection under the policy may have been forfeited. It is important to report all accidents and avoid unnecessary problems.
